This week’s Training Tips 56 video series is devoted to planning. Trainers can fall into three categories. Trainers who are good planners, trainers who are bad planners and trainers who think that planning is someone else’s job. Let’s make it quite clear, all trainers must be good planners and training is a highly planned process. I don’t want to stamp out creativity, spur of the moment inspiration, adlib sections, modification of a session plan and just letting the laughter and fun roll as it occurs but at the  very core of the training process is a great deal of very careful planning. As Mark Twain said, ‘It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech.’ The same can be said of a good training session. But don’t forget the planning of that session was based on a lot of other planning that an effective trainer is also part of.
