One of the most time consuming areas of good training design and session planning is coming up with appropriate learning activities that link to the knowledge, skill or behaviours being taught, are appropriate for the learner group and are fun, interesting and stimulating. Tough ask for anyone. Hours can be spent flicking through books, racking your brain, mind mapping and chatting with other trainers. For me the best activities are original, creative ideas that sometimes just come to you when you least expect it. They probably don’t just appear but are due to the subconscious workings of the brain tossing around the hours spent in the processes mentioned above that eventually click and produce that activity which brings everything you were trying to do together. It’s very satisfying when it happens. This link is a great website which will help you in your research and idea generation. It has many activities for a wide range of training situations. They may not fit what you are looking for but they can all be adapted and they may just spark that idea that leads you to a great learning activity.
