I have been listening to a series of podcasts over the last few days from the Aspen Ideas festival. One in particular caught my attention on What makes a great teacher. It was very school education centric but they still had some very good comments about great teachers which relate to trainers and other educators. We have debated this topic before on this blog and there have been mixed opinions about what makes up a great trainer. Today Seth Godin posted this article on Reasons to work and it started me thinking whether this list applied to teachers and trainers. I don’t think teachers do it for the money? Do some of these other factors ring true for you? Is there something here that is more important to you? For me teaching is fun and I enjoy helping people to learn and achieve something. That is it. I am personally motivated more by problem solving and challenges but that doesn’t happen often on my teaching role which obviously causes some conflict internally.

Let me know what you think (comment below).

Just for fun and information the podcast on Educating the Emotions: A middle aged guy talks about engaging passion from the Aspen conference is great. A very entertaining speaker and a really great story telling approach
