Please watch this great little video. I love the guy who does the illustrations. That in itself is entertaining but there are a collection of very good points made here on a wide range of topics and time. For educators and trainers hang in there as the education section comes up about half way into the 10 minute video. I am personally interested in the first part. Are you past, present or future orientated? I know I am future orientated. I can’t stop thinking about the future. What it will hold? How I will fit into it? What I can do to prepare for it? How I can manipulate it to my advantage. This future view has definitely effected my career choices and my personal development plan. It is why I am writing this blog and learning everyday more about elearning and other related topics. I can also understand why many teachers/educators/trainers are not future orientated and stick to what they know or do.
Can you change your time orientation? I definitely think so. It may not be easy but in some cases if you don’t you will be forced to and that makes most people very uncomfortable. So, watch the video, have a good think about your time orientation and think about its effect on your career and the people you will be teaching, over say, the next ten years. Let me know what you think? How can you change your time orientation and hence your way of seeing the world and teaching?
