I am currently attending the Connect Conference in Melbourne. Today was the Next Big Thing which was essentially a range of topics about the future and technology and tomorrow for me it is Education and Technology. It is difficult to cover quickly what was discussed today. The usual topics such as big data, wearable tech, disruptive technology, privacy, social media etc. What was very interesting was the key note speakers who occasionally added in an aspect of what they see and what they can see happening. I think that most of the speakers do not know what is really going to happen in the next 10 to 30 years but it is clear that the world will be very different. We are right on the edge of a new revolution. As one guy said the future has already happened but it is very thin and many can not see it. A few speakers brought up education and it is clear that it can no longer survive as it is. The next generation will change it because it doesn’t work for them. We will generally speaking not change it because we are not motivated to and we don’t really want to. I see the thin changes that are already occurring but it will gradually become fat change.
