The last word on creativity?

I think that I have shown this video before but it worth showing again as a closer to our creativity series. For now anyway.

This has been an interesting series on creativity and I hope it has helped you to understand the concept a little better. There is a truck load of information out there on the internet and in today’s post I just wanted to add some material in that falls around the edges of the topic.

First up listen/watch this podcast on SlowTv which is an excellent source of free TV on the internet. You can subscribe to the podcast if you are an iTunes person. I want you to check out this show called

How the internet is rewiring our brains. Nicholas Carr with Gideon Haigh

It covers a wide range of material but for this podcast please reflect on how the internet maybe restricting our abilities to think creatively. I know that the distraction of the internet is very strong (as I write this post) and I have realised myself that I often flick and skim from one thing to another without concentrating on one task properly at a time.

And here is something for the adventurous – read the book, The Artist Way by Julia Cameron (There are a series of books now so make sure you get the first one). I read this many years ago and found it excellent in kick starting my creativity. It involves a twelve week program designed to get you to think differently, see things from a different perspective and to open your mind to alternative views. There is some pretty weird stuff in some of the activities but that is the point. I read this book during a particular uninspiring period and I did find it to be very useful. Try it out and let me know how it goes.

In the next post I will be posting the long awaited second part of the training tips 56 series on assessment principles. I apologise for the delay as I have been on holidays and have been gathering new ideas and concepts which I hope you enjoy and learn from.
