Skilled vs unskilled learners

Here is an interesting list of 25 things that skilled learners do. Very positive and I guess a guide to what you should be doing to become a skilled learner. I would hope that most trainers and educators are skilled learners as they must role model what they are advocating. What about a list of things that unskilled learners do. Not as positive but a warning for those who may not be aware of their own unskilled practices. Feel free to add to my list below:

Unskilled learners don’t:

Read instructions

Spend enough time reading and researching the learning content

Take responsibility for their learning

Ask enough well thought out questions

Challenge their trainers to provide more

Approach learning as an opportunity but see it as a chore

Think about application and benefits of learning but rather they concentrate on the piece of paper they will get at the end of the program

Think, they cruise.

Do their own learning

Want to learn they want the money

Plan ahead, they make excuses

See an assessment as a way to verify their learning they seem them as an unnecessary task created to cause inconvenience
