Every aspect of training is a project. Sometimes simple, sometimes complex. Even just delivering a session is a project in itself. I was reminded of this recently as I was delivering a project management program and the concepts that I was teaching were part of the process that I was using to put the actual program together. I suddenly realised that the reason many trainers could not handle the full training process from TNA to program design to delivering the sessions was that many trainers are not competent in project management. If you add into the process, hiring suitable trainers, organising the travel arrangements, sub-contracting the resource development and booking adequate training facilities the full training program project is quite complex. The message here is that if you want to be more than just the trainer maybe you should be either reading a good text on project management or taking a project management program yourself. If you want to take that to another level of complexity check this recent post from Seth Godin.
