I have written about practice before. I even put a video out about it (see below). There appears to be a lot being written about practice at the moment with all sorts of different terms such as deliberate practice etc. This is a good article to read if you want further information. Practice is an important part of training that most trainers forget about. We deliver the training and then we assume that the practice will occur. Of course on many occasions this does not happen. We don’t even consider this part of our role. I think it should be. Assessment is one form of practice and so is coaching but there must be more effort put into practice. New skills and knowledge without practice will and must diminish over time. So what can we do to ensure practice occurs?
I downloaded an app this morning which I think will help and I am trying it out on myself. Its called Lift and it tracks habits. It is simple to use and I encourage you to try it out and maybe experiment on your groups. You can find it here.
