A lot of my old programs (I’m talking 10 years or so) used to have a post training component ie after the training was completed the participant had to report back to a supervisor or coach and they then worked on a post program plan. This was pretty standard for a lot of the more complex programs I was involved in. This was just good practice as everyone knows that you learn most from what you do rather than what you learn in a formal training setting.
It has all but disappeared in most of the programs I am involved in now. We train, then we assess and then we assume that the participant has learnt. Not good. Bring back the post training plan.
