Can’t believe that I did it (or rather, didn’t) – I missed my blog posting date!
I would offer my reasons, justifications, excuses – but I won’t.
They all simply make up a wall of rationalisation that we use to explain away why we don’t do something.
The stark reality is that I missed my blog posting date!
I can’t change that fact now, but I can learn and grow from the experience.
I’ve realised it links nicely with unit of competency TAA501B Maintain and enhance professional practice:
Element 1 Model high standards of performance – Esp. Leadership and time management skills.
(Well, I didn’t do that, did I?)
Element 4 Reflect on and evaluate professional practice – Esp. Reflection and self-evaluation skills. (I have done this, and feel bad about it).
Element 2 Determine personal development needs – Esp. Research skills.
(I need to make sure that a lapse like this does not happen again by strengthening my personal development plan).
I have been following and learning about personal motivation, which is one of my personal development needs, at the following
http://www.motivation123.com
The company behind it is called Vantage Point Motivation Services Inc, and is run by a guy called Jason M Gracia.
I’ve bought a couple of his books and a series of CD’s entitled “Shifting the balance”, which are all about how to motivate yourself to do what it takes to achieve your goals/dreams/desires.
I strongly recommend it, and although I am still in the early stages of learning and practising the right techniques, I am confident that it will play a major role in my future achievements…..
…..and no more missed blog posting dates!
Stuart Barrett.
