Back in the late 90’s I was a huge advocate of online learning and then over the last few years I have been at times very skeptical and then extremely passionate about its place in education and training. My skepticism has come from the extremely slow takeup by many professionals and also the constant failure of the technology which is very frustrating. My passion has come from great MOOC’s and the endless resources that the internet provides. My position now is that there is a place for both and I am very happy with that. It’s not all going to go online but a lot of it should. Trainers will still be critical to the process but the role will shift like everything else.
The article below summarises some research about the values of both the online and face to face world of teaching.
