This is the second e-tool you need to check out. Last week it was Evernote. I am glad that a few people told me that they had at least downloaded it and would see how it performed. This week we look at a really simple e-tool that requires no downloading or purchase. This is simply called E.gg Timer.com. What is it? It is a timer that is located on the internet so you will need an internet connection for it to work. For me this tool has two uses. One, I can use it in a training session to time an activity, exercise or competition. The participants watch the countdown on the screen and hence there are no excuses when the buzzer sounds and the time is up. I have found that it really keeps people on task and introduces a bit if energy and urgency to an activity. The second use is personal. I use it to time periods of work. For example I might want to allocate one hour to marking online work. I set the timer. I get on with the job and when the buzzer goes I move on to the next task. I have also found that I often time periods out particularly when I am really busy. For example I’ll time 30 minutes to read RSS feeds for fun and then get back to work.
Anyway, try it out. I hope you can get some use out of it. Do you have any favourite e-tools that you use? Let me know and I will share them with everyone.
