What should we be teaching to young people that will equip them for the future? Much of the training I carry out is for a specific purpose, with a specific outcome in mind. Is that useful in a world that is rapidly and constantly changing? The question for everyone is are we gearing people up for the future. Their future, their career and destiny or are we training them for an organisation’s or countries future. A future that is only 4 or less years ahead. Not the real future that will be a person’s lifetime. I have been thinking about this concept for quite while but this article sparked the thoughts again. The education sector really needs to look at what it’s purpose is. Short term. Entry to University. Entry to a organisation. Entry to a satisfying life, lifetime. Trainers like me are about short term outcomes (generally) but I don’t think education is any different the way it is currently structured. What do you think?
