I’m doing a lot of writing at the moment and I am super conscious of word choice. Often we use a lot of words and just don’t say anything. I was listening to the news on the radio this morning and the news reader was talking about the budget which will be released soon. To add value to the story they added in a comment (audio sound byte) from a political correspondent who commented on the Auditors report that had been released. They basically said,
There are a lot of recommendations. Some of them long term and some of them short term. Some of them the Government will go with and some that they will stay clear of.
Amazing. I hope they don’t pay that guy much as that statement doesn’t tell me anything I don’t already know. Fluff.
Reality check then. How much of the stuff you say in your presentations is just fluff, filler to make up the time. Good training is always making a point. Always adds value to the outcome.
Ok – some fluff sometimes just for fun, but not dribble that would better left in your head.
