Ideas and creativity

An end product of creativity can be new ideas. It could also be art or a process.  Here are two quotes I really like about creativity.

“The more original your idea is, the less good advice other people will be able to give you”  (Hugh MacLeod)

“To live a creative life we must lose our fear of being wrong”  (Joseph Chilton Pierce)

Both of these quotes signal the challenging paradox of creative. To be creative, you may wrong, you may look and sound foolish, you may upset others but if your not willing to face all of those fears you will most likely not be creative. Personally I haven’t felt that creative for quite a while because of these fears. It is probably fair to say that some people who know me reasonably well would say that this was not correct, I have been creative. But creativity is a personal thing. We all set our own expectations and I have not pushed my boundaries for quite a while. What about you? Do you feel creative or are you doing your job, safely following the train tracks? Do you have a creative outlet?

Here’s a simple little creativity test which has some of the basic creativity test items. Test yourself out and see what your scores are. The process will also give you some insights into what creativity is about. When you are done watch the video below on where do good ideas come from? Apart from some very interesting points that whole video process is very creative.
