Some of you may have read my quick blurb on vouchers and Australia’s lack of vision in regard to education and training (still waiting for a reply of the Minister). I see from a recent newspaper report that the NSW government is also about to launch into another scheme of poor planning and organisation that is all about costs savings rather than smart futures. Here is a little post from Dan Pink on Germany’s approach to training. The summary of the post is that each employee is entitled to one weeks paid training at a course. What a great idea and I am not saying that just because I am a consultant. It is a smart way to ensure that everyone (at least working) gets trained. I’d rather have that than extra money being thrown into super which I may never see. Something to dream about anyway.
