I have been writing and delivering management training for quite a long time and I still amazed at how many people just don’t get it. They read management books, articles, attend training, get coached and they still don’t realise that it requires like many other concepts constant practice, vigilance and respect for others. Management can be reduced down to treating people the way you would expect to be treated. Everything you do can be linked back to this. We all know what we want in a good boss but for some unknown reason when we become the boss we forget all of that and often do the opposite in the belief that this will get the best from people. Wrong! This article provides a good list of what bad bosses do. I am sure that you will identify a number of bosses here that you have had the misfortune of being managed by.
