A to Z of excellent trainer traits competition – Part 3

We are up to round three in the excellent trainer traits competition. Last weeks points went to: 3 points to Stuart (Guide), 2 points to Greg (Genuine) and 1 point to Matt (Galvanic). I have employed an independent trainer to judge the competition so that I am not involved as I am finding it difficult to pick the best ones as all of them are good. For those new to the competition we still have this round and three more to go so there is still a great possibility you could win. If you haven’t  already checked the prize out you can find it here. If you want to read through last weeks entries you can find them here.

This week we start with I.

I – Innovator. An excellent trainer is always trying to create different and interesting ways of programming, designing and delivering creative, fun, enjoyable, stimulating and effective learning.

J – ?

K  – Knowledgeable. An effective trainer must be very knowledgeable of their own area of expertise as well as the principles and practices of effective training and learning. A good overall general knowledge is also important as it allows the trainer to relate to the different individuals and groups that they may be teaching.

L – Learner. To be a good trainer you must also be a keen learner. This links in closely with knowledgeable as the trainer must constantly keep up to date with their own field and teaching practices. Training is not a profession that you learn and it then stops. Even highly experienced trainers are constantly learning by reflecting on each session that they conduct. Enthusiasm for learning is often why people decide to become trainers as they want to help others to learn and to feel the thrill of learning something new.

So your letter this week is J. Comment below on your J attributes a or please comment on mine. Good luck to all the contestants.
